Front Calipers pistons, metal vs. Phenolic

It's been a while since I've visited. I've been busy trying to finally finish rehabbing my 1994 F150 4x4. I need to replace the front calipers. I am going to replace the Master cylinder, I've done the rear brake cylinders. Of course new rotors and drums and hardware. Brake lines on order.
My question is my old and well used calipers have the single phenolic pistons. They are so old and tired they have actually started to crumble. I've noticed that you can either purchase them with a steel piston or IMHO a weaker phenolic piston. But, if there is a reason such as heat dissipation requiring the use of the phenolic pistons, then I'll go with those. I'll be retired from driving anything accept a walker by the the time they wear out. But I am hoping to past the old girl on to my Grandchildren since as we all know they just don't make them like they use too!
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am under the gun to wrap it up as I've purchased my retirement home in Idaho and I intend to spend my time fishing, hunting and just looking at the stars.
Thanks!!!

I would go with steel versus phenolic, but that's because I have had problems with the phenolic piston calipers.

I rebuilt an old set of steel and they have held up fine for 23+ years of service in the Midwest.

Just my opinion....
