Dealer said they would pay off my car loan, they didn't.
I have written purchase agreements that why would pay my loan off 13,500 of my loan. It's been 20 days and still no payment. Should I go to a lawyer and get some free advice? My payment is due on July 2nd and I'm assuming if they cause damage to my credit, they're out of business and are going to get some serious repercussions. What do I do? I'm not too worried about my payment as I can make it, but I certainly shouldn't have to. If it's not paid by the due date, should I get some advice from a lawyer?

EMail is considered proof of contact? Yeesh, maybe, but since the amount is not insignificant make sure you send them a "return receipt requested" signature confirmation letter in the US snail mail. You will definitely need to make this months payment as near as I can tell unless they get a boot in their *** pretty quick. Keep track of payments carefully because you'll probably end up having to try and collect the balance from them, not the original lender. You will probably be owed some money back from your insurance, don't forget about that.

it may have just fallen through the cracks and been missed.

i would still give them the benefit of doubt as talk to them face to face. they may very well have paid it off and the loan company have not updated your account. i have seen that happen a few times.
bank of america was supposed to pay my mortgage and homeowners insurance. they did it on time for 14 years. then missed 3 mortgage payments and one insurance payment. when i finally got through to someone they swore on a stack of bibles it was paid.
and they did pay it, 3 days later.

I'm confused by the advice to seek legal advice. It's cut and dried...the dealership has the obligation to pay off the old note (with the facts stated). I was in the car business for 33 years as a salesperson...business manager...sales manager...general manager. Never did a face to face fail to produce satisfactory results. Save yourself some $$$$ and some aggravation...go see them in person.
