Thanks 53 for that info. Right now the truck has the org 6 in it and so for so good. If it starts giving any trouble he will then install a V8 and a normal 4 speed and get rid of the old truck 4 speed that someone installed in it many years ago.

If and when he does that then he will have to get or make what he needs to mount the compressor back. Vintage air would have what would be needed I would guess.

The org radiator at a couple of small leaks but Blue Devil fixed them but or how long? He will more than likely change it out to a new alum one when and if he does a motor swap.

We have a flip frontend and guess it will be installed in the next few months?

If you use the Gen II kit does it let you keep your glove box?

Have to buy a new one for this truck any way so I guess you would not want to install it till you install the AC/Heat and then cut it down.

3" is sure not much for sure. Might be better to fab one up?

Thanks

I've thought of fabricating a glove box. The top on a glove box serves no purpose that I can think of.

The evaporator takes up almost all the space under the dash. I did an overhead console and put my DVD/Backup camera, switches, front speakers and a small glove box for papers etc. up there. Or you could do a center console under the dash.

If you did make your own you could possibly make it deeper but very little..

We have a list of items that are needed for the truck and I just scratched new glove box off the list. Not much sense buying a new one and having to cut well over half of it off. But it would have all the holes in the right place and easer to mount but I will have to leave that up to him.

Mid-Fifty's sells a reduced 3" glove box for use with the Gen II kit. It will not work with the Gen IV kit. I have about 3/4" space behind the glove box door to the face of the evaporator.

I am giving all your info to my friend so all will be up to him what he wants to use.
Now is there enough room for just a normal stereo in the dash? Someone had already cut the dash for a normal radio.
I did tell him we need to order the insulation kit and at least get the firewall piece installed first and then start the install of the AC.

You said the IV one came with an extra duct so what did you do with it?
Sure would be great to see a picture of the unit if at all possible unless you think it would not really help any?

Thanks

I would look for a new location for the radio. It will be very tight if it fits at all under dash.

I pointed the extra duct down at the floor. You could run it through a console to the rear area like they do in an SUV for the back seat.

I am on the road right now and not near the truck. Should be home early Sept. and will post pictures then.

Where whoever located the radio then there shouldn't be a problem as you can see in the picture.

After reading all you have told me I got to thinking about the firewall deal and I guess you wanted to go with the ABS ones? So if that is a no go then Mid-Fifties does sale a carpet with a backing that I guess would work? My guess is with my friends truck he will be using the rubber like OEM in it for easy cleaning.

So what did you end up using on the firewall?

Thanks
