What kind of camshaft???

Back to the 88 F250 7.5 (460). Going through the engine one step at a time. I looked at the lifters most looked worn, dished in the center. So I guess might as well replace the cam. I glanced through the bay and I have no clue what to look for. I am doing an economy build. Meaning I want quality, but not building a race engine or wanting to dump a bunch of money in it. In other words a cheap *******.

Probably a cam and lifter kit. It is a heavy 250 and I run a plow in the winter and it has a dump on the back. Stock would probably be fine. Or pep it up a little. Any pointer who to go to?? Or what to look at??

There is no guessing about this one. Wiped lifters mean there are wiped camshaft lobes as well. You HAVE to replace the cam.

Talk to your machine shop. They can source an all inclusive engine rebuild kit. Do not associate economy as cutting corners. You will lose that bet every time.

Yea that is what I meant... I guess the cam and lifters have to go.

Yea will talk to the guy doing the machine work. Was trying to get a little info ahead of time. I looked through the bay and a lot of stuff was down to what kind of lift and duration I wanted. I have no clue. Stock or a little better. Will check with the man next.

Thx

Unless you are porting the heads significantly I would suggest a factory spec. cam.
