Can't Leave Well Enough Alone !!
I have stock 15X7 chrome wheels with '55 Ford center caps on my '84 F-150 2WD. Tires are Dayton Timberline 30X9.50 R-15..I found some new wheels, but the nearest size available is 16X8. Obviously I would need new tires.."The Daytons have 3,000 miles..but are 7 years old...Would the 16X8 wheels be a problem ?..thanks..jv..

Backspacing and the size of your new tires is the question that needs an answer.

The way I see it only if you cant get a tire that is 30" tall as the speedo will then be off.

Backspacing is not a problem..So, if the new tires are about 30 inches, I should be OK..I don't care about the speedo. Hell, I never drive over 50 anyway!!

If the speedo is a problem, Jerry, pull the speedo cable, determine what tooth-count the gear has and get one with 1 fewer teeth.
