EBP Exhaust brake 😎
#16
I can chime in on the theory side - augmented by all the engine performance readings I've seen on countless trucks.
I was just in a conversation on valve springs, and our stockers when new are theoretically good for a max of about 35 PSI backpressure (about 50 PSI absolute). Given that our EBP sensor maxes out at about 53 PSI and I have seen that countless times on my own rig as well as other modified 7.3Ls, we're re-writing the book as we (literally and figuratively) move forward. I have intentionally limited my backpressure and boost to 35 PSI indicated, for fear that chasing 40 PSI boost with my 38R on springs with 300K miles will start knockin' things around in there.
Now... to the EBPV brake: If you are engine braking from 60 MPH in 3rd gear with the TC locked, you are not chasing any demons. If you abruptly lift your foot after a WOT run (passing or racing) and manually over-ride the engine protections built into the tune (TC locked, wrong gear, high RPMs) - this is where you and the engine get slapped upside the head.

I can answer plenty of other questions, PM or not... but info is best when it's shared openly here. Many can learn at the same time, and it's nice to have somebody help out with my bouts of cranial rectumitus.

I learned from the forum, from Cody, and from lots of experiments and shared data. I'm not so much a guru as I am a sponge. I won't divulge anything about Cody's (cleatus12r's) secret sauce, as I have those enhanced features he provided, and I respect his request.

I'm wanting a transmission capable of putting 500hp to the ground . Something I can put in my truck and not have to worry about for a 100,000k + . I just finished up building my front and rear traction bars and now want to do the transmission and rear diff . Then I will continue with more engine , fuel and turbo mods . I already have the basics exhaust , intake , banks wastegate , boost fooler , 6 pos chip (need custom tunes ) new rad hoses , almost all sensors , hutch mod with pre pump filter , removed the spring and plunger from fuel bowl , new oil cooler , oil pan dip stick o ring , hpx , bellowed uppies lol . I want to nock the trans out next .

You need to look into a Brian's Truck Shop (BTS) or John Woods (JW) transmission. Some of the best there are available, not cheap but built right. Just need to figure out which one is the best option for you.
There is also the HD4R100 version from ford, many recommend upgrading the TC if going this route, this is a slightly cheaper option.

I have no idea what the difference between the last three letters means.
