That's for an 85/86 F150/250 - - with 17 gal. midship tank-with 117", 139" W/B 8 cyl 302
EFI. Is that what you ordered the tank for? You have to match the tank and sending unit.

Well I have not seen a 17 gal tank offered, I have seen 16, 16.5 and then 19. I also assumed(I know what that means) that's the 117" WB is for the short wheel base truck which I have. I don't see any other options to choose from unless I have missed something. The tank that I ordered today was 16 gal for the midship tank.

E5TZ-9002-M would be the one listed for my truck, from your page it is a 16.5 gal tank. I was wrong, Ford lists a 17 gal tank but for 83/84 trucks. When I entered fords part number in google it brought a tank up on ebay that is listed as a 16 gal tank. As i clicked on each link for that part number it listed a Dorman number and that page has it listed as a 16.5 gal tank. That is the part number that I ordered today. It may not be prefect but as long as when it reads empty its correct then I will be fine.

If you aren't going to run the in-tank pumps you can go with the earlier style that has the small opening. For instance, E0TZ 9002-L is a 16.5 gallon midship tank for the 80-82 trucks, and E0TZ 9275-F should be the sending unit for that tank.

That is true but I want to be able to use the factory plug for the sending units so when I install the new selector valve then it all works together. If for some reason it doesn't work then I will do something about it.

That being the case then you'll need to proceed as you are. Should work fine.

Today has been a good day today, the family and I went to the yacht club to have a few drinks in the sun by the pool and when we came home it was like Santa had forgotten some stuff in the North pole and decided to leave them today. I got my carb, fuel pump, selector valve, spark plug wires, and air cleaner housing. By Thursday I should have everything else in.

Ok so I couldn't help myself I had to start on the truck. Wife was going to work, it has been overcast out side so it's in the low 90's outside and I have a little beer so why not.

Before picture.....time to get started.

Shop vac died,,,,after dad passes I had his vac and it has passed on as well so I had to break out the overly expensive house vac. Way too expensive but will suck the hell out of some dirt.

Finished product.....had a little crap drop in the valley when I pulled the intake off. Had 1 bolt head break off right in the front by the radiator hose inlet. Luckily I was able to ease it out after the intake came off.

Tube between the heads seems to be in decent shape and by the grace of God I was able to get this connection loose. Going to go by Ace and see if I can get something to cover it up with.

Going to have to pick up some cleaner, razor blades to clean up the heads to proceed. I will admit I am afraid to take the valve covers off cause I don;t want any bad news but I'll be doing that after I get the head surface cleaned up. Since I took out the distributor I decided to check and make sure the one I bought matched and it does not. The shaft from the gear to the end is longer on the stock one than the one I bought. I will have to look to see if they offer a different one. It all matches to the gear so I guess this motor just has a shorter shaft going to the oil pump. To be continued....

Got more parts today. both fuel tanks came in today by Fed-ex.....I happened to be in the backyard scraping the heads with a razor blade when I heard the truck pull up. I walked out to see what he was bringing me and as I am walking to the truck I see a box get slammed on the floor of the truck and then set up right (midship tank). When he looked over and saw me looking at him with my "WTF are you doing?" look all he could muster was...oh hello. I said to him that I guess you didn't expect me to be standing here while you are throwing my **** around. Apparently he didnt hear me because all I got was "huh?" After dealing with the idiot and opening the boxes and inspecting the tanks I let the little guy be on his way. Good thing they have extra material on the edges of the tanks cause every corner of the rear tank is bent all to hell. Just a few more things left to receive and I'll be ready to proceed.

Are you plugging the holes where the AIR manifold bolts to the heads? If so, a really short bolt (5/8" I think) with a copper gasket will seal it.

I bought a 3/4" cap to screw on to the pipe in the back, the picture i took. Hoping that will be enough, if not then I will try the other.

Should work - until the little manifold crumbles. They were designed to live with air going through them, so they can stand the heat. But with no air the corrosive exhaust gasses eat them up fairly quickly.
