Nice 40

About the 2 pinstripe pics: the green pickup has pinstripes that were sprayed on over masking tape and other masking. The blue truck has brush painted stripes. One person painted the cab and another person painted the door which would explain the different size brush strokes. I would like to have a pro brush on the stripes.

Nice, is it yours now or?? I would like to have that one in the collection for sure.

It is not mine; it has an interesting history though. I am always curious about original examples of these trucks.

COE pinstripes went at least to 47 as mine has them. I'm the second owner.

I found them on my '47 tonner panel. Was black with a tacoma cream stripe. Had to look pretty hard to see what's left.

Maybe your panel truck is a 42! It didn't have a title when you got it, right?
The number on the frame may tell the story.

I bought it as a '42 one ton panel..... But when cleaning the frame for the new engine the frame was stamped ' * 799Y-17350 8 6 * I have it written down that the number should designate a 1947 year model. The asterisks are stars at the beginning and end. The last plate on it was Minnesota 1966 Y99 755

striping

I was looking at old photos of my 46 and sure enough it had light cream trim to go with the dark green when I first got it. Guess maybe they did do the striping in 46-47 after the war??

We need some folks with original paint '46-'47 trucks to chime in!

Are you talking about the strip on the door or pinstripes?

As for me, I'm talking about the pinstripes. I will take a look at the bible of these trucks. FTS'05. James Wagner will know. He knows everything.

Here is a pic of a '46 or '47 Ford from a museum in Norway. It has pinstripes and headlights and parking lights with body color and no hood side trim.

The front bumper has squared corners instead of rounded. Also, the Ford logo is painted in the trim color. Interesting.

No hood spears? I would hate that.

At this link is a photo, supposedly of the assembly line in '47:Classic Ford Truck Picture Gallery
Tough to make out the pinstripe area, but hood spears and rings for the lights were pale. Btw, the script on my 47 had Tacoma cream peeking through the old paint job someone had done.
