Thanks. It was hard to let the 6.0L go but it would have been harder to continue the maintenance nightmare!

The cap is a Jeraco High Rise Series. This is my 3rd Jeraco and they are great caps. They are very well built.

It took a 2800 mile trip towing my camper with my 2005 F-250 6.0 RWD to clog the oil cooler, trash the egr, and lift the heads.....I was looking at a $5k repair bill to bulletproof it.....I even bought all the parts and made an appointment at a shop to get it done.....then I realized I am insane for sinking more money into an 11yr old, RWD, rusting truck that is probably going to give me more headaches down the line....I returned the parts and got rid of the 6.0 for my 4x4 F-350 6.2...... I do miss the torque of the tuned 6.0, but it's a fair trade off for the low maintenance and reliability..... and it tows 10k lbs just fine....I use manual mode and keep it in it's ideal rpm range accordingly at all times.

Me too!

I bought my first diesel truck a '03 F-350 dually 6.0 about 9 months ago. I read about the issues and thought "I'm retired, I can deal with maint./repairs". Well after working through a few issues it started stranding me on the side of the freeway whenever it would get into boost. Ford and a local diesel mechanic couldn't figure it out. I finally had enough and started looking for an alternative. V-10's were kinda scarce in Super Duties and so when I was looking at newer trucks I came upon the 6.2's. I really hadn't heard about them despite being a long term Ford guy. Picked up a 2012 F-250 6.2 and I'm very happy after my first towing trip ( 7,000lb. enclosed car trailer). The 6.2 info on here helped me make the decision

Just sold my 2006 F350 6.0 with 79,000 miles, and bought a 2017 f250 6.2. I just got tired of worring about the diesel rig, it would overheat on steep grades and use coolant, whitch means head gasket leaking. Without towing it ran like a champ. Getting a fifth wheel hitch installed next week in the new f250.

Congratulations on the new truck. I have had my 6.2L for almost 2 years now and it has never been back to the shop. You will not be sorry! Do you have any pictures of it?

Close to making the jump, myself. I have a 2004 Excursion 6.0 that I've replaced the FICM, turbo, all 4 passenger side injectors, oil cooler, EGR cooler, and second ICP sensor (I replaced it when I did the oil and EGR coolers but I guess I got a bad one off the shelf--had to have a shop do it since we were traveling and it was $666--no kidding!). It has 179K. Originally it was enough for what I bought it for (pulling an 18' flatbed with my 4x4 on it) but we just got a 37' travel trailer and it's on the edge of being legal as far as weights go. Pulling the RV back from our first trip with it (not counting bringing it home) it had the trans temp sensor go bad. The pegged gauge and CEL freaked me out since we were still 80 miles from home. I've decided I'm done with it. Going to fix the things it needs and sell it before something else happens. I also want a truck that can handle the RV better, and tomorrow I'm going to make some calls about a 2011 F-350 dually 6.2. From everything I've seen here I don't think I'm making a bad decision.

I have had my 2016 6.2L F250 4x4 CC 8' bed (3.73 rear) for 2 years and it replaced my 2005 6.0L F250 4x4 CC 8' bed (3.73 rear). In the 11 years I owned the 6.0 truck, it spent 60 days in the shop for engine related issues. At the 2 year mark, the cab had been off of the 6.0 twice. My 2016 has never been in the shop and I simply do not regret the switch. The mileage with the gas motor is about 10 when I am pulling a 6000 lb boat/trailer and it is about 13.5 running empty on the highway. Those numbers are 3 mpg less than I was getting with the 6.0. The thing you will notice the most with the 6.2 is the fact that you gotta let that motor rev to make power. It's a bit strange after driving a diesel for many years but I don't even notice it now. Make the switch and don't ever look back. You will not be sorry.
