Ignition switch sticks

Ignition switch sticks
Has anyone had problems with the ignition cylinder getting stuck in "P" and will not rotate to start the van? Sometimes it does rotate all the way through but I get nothing (like I didn't even have a battery but the battery is charged, dash lights up as usual)...other times it works fine. The key only goes in one side, all 3 duplicates and the 1 original have to be inserted in one way to start it or the cylinder locks in place (the fix there is to flip the key and it is fine). Any pointers or tech write ups already in place? Thanks!

Agree.......I just read in a FSM that the biggest problem with the key cylinder not working correctly is a worn out key..........who would figure......
If the worn out key your trying only works from one side, toss it, it could be causing other problems or even damage the cylinder.
If you posted the year of the van, I could find the diagram for the steering column and post that, you would see how the cylinder turn the cam, that pushes the rod that controls the starting switch.
