There's a lean-to that runs the full length on the back of my shop. Aside from putting my compressor out there so it wouldn't take up additional floor space in the shop, I put it out there so it isn't so noisy inside the shop when it's running. The crazy thing is my two stage compressor actually makes a lot less noise than an oil-less compressor.

From a dead empty (80 gallon) tank to full pressure (175 psi) only takes about 4 minutes for my compressor to get there. An oil-less compressor takes forever to pump up and they seem to run continuously when you are using them. I never have to stop and let the compressor catch up when I'm bead blasting. The compressor cycles on and off and I never have a drop in output pressure between cycles.
