1948-56 Front disc conversion question?

I have a used front disc conversion that came with a complete front end removed from a 1956 F100.

My plan was to fit the disc conversion to my 1951 F1 but have noticed the difference in length of the spindles so the rotors won't work. I have seen kits listed as fitting both trucks so I am guessing the rotors are the same with a spacer for early longer spindles, is this right?

Just to simplify the question guys... has anyone fitted a disc conversion to a 51 era truck and had to use a spacer on the spindle?

No the item you've circled is the adapter for the inner bearing.
There's a spacer that fits between the outer bearing and the spindle nut. It's not in your picture above.

Thanks a million bjmayberry2. The spacer must be about 1/2" thick as this is the difference between the two spindles.

Shorter spindle taken from the 1956 F100

Longer spindle on my 1951 F1

I just saw a post about that spacer a few days ago-it was either on here or on Ford Barn. Apparently, the spacer is usually shipped as part of the kit, and if it is not needed it generally gets tossed out. Look for the thread-it had dimensions of the spacer.

Thanks hulleywoodworking I'll have a search again but couldn't find anything last time I had a look, just a case of using the right key words.

Anyhow now I know where the spacer goes and that all it does is sit over the outer bearing and bring the castle nut in line with the holes for the split pin I can simply make one myself. Good news!
