03 Ex - drifts left and right while driving - Help

While driving my excursion will drift/pull left then right. Got the truck to pull my camper and feel unsafe. All the research I've done so far suggests the springs need to be replaced for a better ride. However, when I checked my truck this is what I found. Pics attached.

Front

Back

Front

Back

Everything I've seen so far suggests I should have 2 springs all around.. however, I have more in the rear.
Can anyone point me in a direction to start to fix/troubleshoot my steering problem?
Thanks,
Mike

Did you check tie rods and ball joints? Also the unit bearings in the front can have a lot of play without any real bearing noise.

You need to jack up your front end and check your ball joints and all the steering components. How are the tires are they wearing uneven. You could also change out the front springs to a V code from a Fseries truck and level out the front end.

Truck is new to us with new tires on it... I don't have enough of miles on it to determine tire wear. Do the back springs look factory?

I don't have enough experience to check the ball joints/ steering components. I will have to take it to my mechanic.

Springs look good to me. They dont sit level front to rear from the factory. How many miles? The front is heavy on these trucks and hard on the components. Thats the first place I would look for wander.

Someone told me to put V codes in front and X codes in rear... Both those springs only have 2 leafs.. But from my rear picture, it looks like I have more then 2 leafs... Am I missing something?

stop over thinking this. take it to an alignment shop or to a shop that deals in suspension. Probably due for some shocks as well. Heck ford can take a look and figure this out.

now was this issue only when towing?

X & V codes would be for the front The rear will have multiple leafs. Check the sticker on the door jamb it will tell you the code springs. It's labeled some thing like SPG then will have the code below it.

upon edit from your last post drifting all the time, you have something worn or out of align in the front end. I'd take it to a front end alignment shop. You are missing a rubber over travel bumper in the front, but that is not your wandering problem. Hopefully you will never need the over travel bumper. Those shocks look original too. I am on my third set of shocks, but I have 190000 on mine.

You have D code springs in the front and G code in the back. Before you change springs I would have your mechanic look over the front end and check the hubs, tie rods, drag link, steering gearbox, sway bar bushings, trac bar bushings etc. Have you checked to see if the hubs are locked into 4 wheel drive. If possible get under the truck with the truck in park and the brake on and spin the front driveline if it doesn't turn freely you have a locked hub.

When you get to the spring part of the job search or ask about it in the Excursion forum they can tell you what you need.

I read somewhere that cars need a little toe in on front wheels to keep straight. Look up YouTube videos on how to check tie rod ends, if there is excessive play you can order parts , replace then take it in for alignment. These vehicles are heavy and that wears out parts.
