Beautiful work there RalphXL!
I have a round headlight '78 with a 400/C6/NP-203 I'm working on, same paint scheme as yours. You just don't see those paint schemes around very often.
That's an impressive looking 460 you've got there, care to share any details? I want to use something like those V-bands to make my exhaust system downstream of the headers easier to work around.
Looking great man! You're getting it fixed up right for sure. Is this your first Bronco?

I love v-bands, they cost more but the connection is much better. I had a lifted '78 bronco with a mild 460 on 35s about 10 years ago.

Been a while since I did an update. I pulled the stockish 460 that came with my bronco out today and set the 545 in place. The cam is getting reground right now. I can add cam specs later if anyone is interested. Basically it's a hydraulic roller cam lobe profile that I will be using solid roller lifters on, much less spring pressure should make the lifters last much longer.
I got this heavy SOB out.
It won't be going back in like this, probably the trans and then the adapter and transfer case. I took three C-6's apart to make one hopefully good one. Checking end play here. Once I finish up the valve body tomorrow, I can air check and if all is okay, install the trans. I got a 3000rpm stall converter from Edge.
Maybe I'll get the trans in by the end of the week if I don't run into any problems.

More progress. Had to cut the crossmember in order to get at the front drain plug.
Transmission going in. Worked great, but getting the transfer case in afterwards was a real pain in the ***. If I have to pull them out again soon I think I'll get a Harbor Freight ATV lift to do the job.
Headers fought me tooth and nail. But they are in. I heat wrapped pipes that are directly the cab. I still have to make the rest of the exhaust. I'm just going to dump the pipes after a set of DynoMax Ultraflow mufflers.
The money shot.
Might be able to fire the motor up towards the end of next week.

Just adding this because I think that stud girdles look cool.
I bolted on the inner fenders so I could mount the fuel pressure regulator, MSD box, remote oil filter(more on that later), and a oil Accumulator. I plan to just get the motor running. I really want to hear how it sounds. Later I'll remove the inner fenders and remove the rust. There isn't too much of it, but I don't want to leave it there if I can help it.
Right now I am expecting a box from Jeg's tomorrow that will have the oil and power steering lines and fittings that I need to finish pluming the motor up. Exhaust is done, to the mufflers at least. Pretty much I need to add some fittings and do the wiring.

545 is a 460 bored .030" over, and the 3.85" stock stroke crank is replaced with a 4.5" stroke crank.

Got is running today. No radiator yet, so it was just long enough to set the timing and rev it up a few times. Sounds really snotty. Looks like I may have a fitting leaking a bit on my oil filter relocator. Other than that, no other leaks. Wiring was a mess. Was all cut up and spliced from previous owners. I will be sorting that mess out for a while. The alternator I am using is one of Fords 130 amp 3G units. That will eliminate the external voltage regulator. Photobucket for some reason won't upload a current picture of how things look. Next up add the radiator support and radiator.
