Hello all the 400 in my 79 f150 2wd is shot I got a low mile 460 with c6 for a good price my question is what will I need to do this swap. I have looked around online but all in keep finding is same swap but in a 4wd. Thanks in advance for any info I'm hoping to do this in very near future so 8f I need to order parts I need to do it asap.

If the 460 is out of a car you will need to swap the oil pan and exhaust manifolds for the truck versions (and the truck motor mounts).

 

Swap is pretty straight forward with the c6, you would just have to know what torque converter and flexplate you need because in 1979 1/2 the 460's went to externally balanced, so depending what year engine you have. there are 3 or 4 different size TC they used, you can look that up, as for the oil pan you don't have to swap it if you doing the swap in a 2wd as you said, but a 4wd you have to find a rear sump truck pan, so you should be good there, you need truck/van manifolds also, car will not fit without notching frame( i have 1985 460 truck manifolds for sale if you need them). and engine mounts, i know im missing a little bit of stuff but this should give you a good outlook on the swap, have fun! you would also have to maybe get a bigger radiator, some 351m/400 came with the big core some didn't.
