For those with the 50 gallon Titan tank!

I have never done that even to my gas engine vehicles. I have a Tahoe with a 26gal tank and it has never been below 22gallons. The Tahoe the gauge would hit the 'E' early. So it was always a question as to how much was left. I usually filled it up at when it needed 19-20gsllons. The f250 fill ups are happening at about 19 gallons. It is nice to know how many miles you have left in the tank.

While I can appreciate the idea of this, I wouldn't do it. the HPFP uses fuel for lubrication. Likely the truck would quit before it got starved for fuel? How long before the engine starts to sputter is there air entering too? But why chance that.
I've wanted the Titan 50 too. But I guess I am somewhat of a chicken s***, when it comes to fuel system changes. There have been reported issues due to improper installation of the Titan and folks getting water.
I don't live in areas where fuel is hard to get, if I did, I might think differently. A few hours driving while towing, is long enough for me for a fuel stop and stretch.

18 - Use the 3/8” nylon lock nuts to tighten down the top flange. Tighten to 20 pound feet (lb-ft) of torque using a torque wrench. Be sure to tighten in a “star” pattern, starting with the four studs adjacent to where the ½ flanges meet so as to prevent the flanges from overlapping, and to ensure all nuts are equally tightened and the “O” ring gasket is properly seated. Carefully “snug” the nuts equally before tightening to specification (See Fig. 5). After initially tightening to 20 pound feet (lb-ft) , check the torque again after 15 minutes or so.
They do not re-torque the nuts holding the sending unit in the tank nor do they try to pressure test the tank after installing the sending unit....
I have had my Titan tank in my truck almost two years with NO problems.

I have the 50 gallon and I've gotten down to 43 miles left... never checked fuel used... actually was unaware of it until now. I was towing last week when I finally to the campground (knew I could make it) and after I unhooked, the MTE jumped up to 77.
I try not to let it get below a quarter tank regardless. I was just lazy and tired on the above, not to mention curious. Rarely does MTE get below 100. Probably shouldn't mess around like that with 7 1/2 tons of awesome attached in my bed.

The DTE is accurate, very accurate, either the tank isn't programmed correctly, or the tank vent isn't set up right and the tank is collapsing. 60 miles wouldn't bring on the E alarm yet, but 30-40 miles should. Unless you were getting 6-7mpg at the time, there's an issue. When in doubt, trust the DTE, it will always be right.

Just curious hoseclamp and I don't mean to hijack the thread but I see from your signature that you too have installed the 30 gallon Titan tank in place of the spare tire. It should hold 120 litres of fuel but when I empty mine completely I can only put around 100 litres in. How many litres are you able to put in your 30 gallon Titan tank when it is empty?

titan 50 gallon f250
ok i have a titan 50 gallon in my 2014 f250 and the low fuel light comes on after burning about 36-37 gallons and after i burn 41 gallons the truck will barely start because it seams to be sucking air...its like my sending unit inst deep enough in the tank...anyone else seen this of have a solution. also my computer was reprogramed to a 50 gallon tank.

The most I have put in at a fill up is 46 gallons. Never ran it below that. I have not had any problems with my Titan. Or my truck for that matter.
If you installed the tank you should be able to see that the pick up is quite low in the fuel tank and spring loaded down. Could possibly be a problem with the basket that the fuel is picked up and returned into. That part came out of the original tank. Good luck !

I have never had the low fuel light with the Titan 50 gallon tank. The most I have added was about 40 gallons. I tend not to allow the level to get to low, especially if wandering the mountains with steep grades. The tank is relatively long and narrow with the fuel suction positioned aft. I have this thought of starving the fuel pump while driving down a 12-14% grade. Just don't want to go there.

The day I had a friend install my Titan 50 I was intentionally making an effort to run the stock down as far as I could to facilitate it's removal. As I drove into his yard my
DTE said 1 mile. Upon removal I siphoned about 5 gal from the stock tank to put into the Titan along with the 5 gal I brought with me. That tells me that the stock tank gave me few gallons of reserve when the DTE indicated 0 miles. Move ahead now to the
Titan 50 gallon tank. While towing my 8,000# Airstream I pushed it about as far as I dared and took it to 500 miles travel distance and put 45 gallons in it. I don't think I would do that again but at least I know it will still pull fuel down to the 5 gal level. I never had the DTE adjusted to reflect the new tank volume but I find the fuel used to be accurate and that works for me.
