Transmission Issues

Hey Folks,
So the linkage in my Transmission has been a bit of an issue since I bought it. Since I don't drive it a ton, and I could always make it work, I didn't really address it. It shifts a bit sloppy, there is interference in 2nd gear and getting it to go into reverse was sometimes a pain. I knew it was a linkage issue, but since it was more of an inconvenience than a real issue, I have lived with it...until now. Last night the linkage for my reverse gear broke. The real issue here is that this is not the original trans. The PO put in a 3 spd with overdrive (toploader imposter). I don't mind the trans. Works well for cruising and great gas mileage. I'm not racing here. Anyway the real issue is that when shoe horning this trans into the truck, the shifter and linkage were cobbled together. Now I cant find a shofter or shifter install kit that is right for the truck, so I am reaching out to you guys to see if there is anyone out there who know where a guy might procure something. The Trans is a D7DR 3 speed with overdrive. If anyone has any info on where I might get the appropriate linkage for this trans I would be extremely grateful.

Last night the linkage for my reverse gear broke (See 7B112 in upper pic below, complete P/N: D7DZ-7B112-A - 14 9/16" long).

The real issue here is that this is not the original trans. The PO put in a SR-OD Single Rail 4 spd. overdrive. I don't mind the trans. Works well for cruising and great gas mileage. I'm not racing here.

Anyway the real issue is that when shoe horning this trans into the truck, the shifter and linkage were cobbled together. The Trans is a D7DR SR-OD Single Rail 4 Speed Overdrive.

If anyone has any info on where I might get the appropriate linkage for this trans I would be extremely grateful.
Trans ID number: D7DR-7003-AA = RUG-BP SR-OD Single Rail 4 Speed Overdrive.

Applications: 1977/78 Granada 200/250 I-6 & 302.

This trans, besides the Granada, was also installed in misc 1978/79 Passenger Cars & 1978/83 F100/250 2WD 300/302 (Clarify: 1978/79 F250 300 I-6 & 1980/83 F250 300 I-6 & 302).

The other cars and the F100/150's shift linkage is different than what the Granada used (see Granada in the upper parts catalog pic below).

Lower pic shows the 1978/79 F100/250 RUG SR-OD shift lever and linkage.

1979 Fairmont/Zephyr/Mustang/Capri/Granada & 1980/83 F100/250: Ford changed the shift lever, it goes directly into a 'turret' located between the trans case and the extension housing (tail shaft).

The bottom of the shift lever nestles into a nylon bushing that's notorious for cracking apart!

I don't get paid a cent to do this jazz, but it does save me money.

Prior to joining FTE, I spent hours on ebay looking for auto related porcelain and neon signs; on gunbroker.com, antiquearms.com & gunsamerica.com spending more money.

I also have antique furniture, Pueblo Pottery, 1000's of books and lots of other old stuff that collects dust.

There's so much stuff in our single story 3,000 sq. ft. house, that the mice have developed round shoulders to negotiate thru it all.

When I was playing with these, the "flag" can be flipped on the 3/4 pivot. I was abe to use stock 4 speed rods and not the weird side ways "J" rod.

I was never able to confirm this but my research said a top shifter (aluminum ) should bolt on and work from either a mid 80s TOD 4 speed trans or a jeep T170..eliminating the side shifter. ..
