Just got home Tuesday night from working in Vallejo all week with very limited Internet so I haven't been online much...guess I'd better move this thread to GNAC!
No, I'm trying to be more tolerant lately and not give in to the whiners who insist that certain threads don't belong here.
As for the heat, it's been okay here the last few days, mid-90s which I can take (but don't really enjoy when working outside.) I'm usually okay up to high 90s if I start out in the morning while it's cool and acclimate to the day as it warms up, but if I'm inside all morning and then go out to get some work done, it's like stepping into a blast furnace. I don't have A/C, just a swamp cooler, so it usually keeps the house about 20º cooler than the outside temp. unless it's a humid day, then the swamp cooler just doesn't do much but move air around.
And I find that the older I get, the less tolerance I have for heat.
When I was in my early 20s I lived outside Redding but worked in town. I was working as a mechanic at a truck rental and we didn't have a shop, so I had to work outside in the parking lot, there wasn't even any shade. One day it hit 118º and the jack stands I put under the truck I was working on were sinking into the asphalt. By the end of the day I had heat rash under my arms and wasn't looking forward to the 25 mile drive home, so I went to a friend's house and took a cool shower, then slept on his couch and went into work at 5 am and got my work done, then headed home before it got too hot. At home there was a nice cool creek to jump into...!

Sounds like Kentucky. If don't like the weather, just wait a short bit and it will change. Been really humid here too.

I was in French Gulch. Temps there were usually about 10º cooler than in Redding due in part to Clear Creek running right through the Gulch, but it still got darn hot at times. Here, hot summer temps will still hit 105º on occasion but most days stay in the 90s. I want to get a bit closer to the Coast at some point and get those hottest days into the mid-90s with an average summer day in the 80s.

You have probably been on this road a time or two.

Yes, I know exactly where that is!
When I was 11 my dad bought a 1948 F1 with no engine. We swapped in a flathead Merc V8 and stuck a 550-gallon tank in the back, used it to water down the roads on the ranch. I loved that job! At 11/12 I drove around the ranch every chance I could get. And that truck...wish I knew where it was now.
