2004 5.3 won't start
I have a 2004 Fx4 that won't start, for testing I hit it with starting fluid and it took of and then died. COne time a couple of weeks ago, about 150 miles, it felt like it loses power will driving on the highway but it cleared up. No Codes! Truck has 165k on it I got it with 113k from a ford dealer, 5 Years ago. Been luck with it so far .
What do you think fuel filter ? Pump? Pressure sender?
That for any help

It might be the fuel pump or it might be in the circuitry that controls the fuel pump.
What it needs is DIAGNOSIS so you don't waste money replacing parts that aren't bad. Too many times, posters come here and report that they replaced what seemed to be the most likely culprit but the thing still doesn't work. Then they do the proper tests and find out it was something else.
Get access to the inertia switch connector. Probe the pink/black wire with a meter or test lamp. When the key is first turned from OFF to RUN, that line should go to battery voltage for 2-3 seconds to cause the pump to run and pressurize the system. If it behaves but the pump did not run (listen carefully), then the odds are very good that the pump is faulty although there is still a small chance that the problem is in the wiring from the inertia switch to the pump and its ground line.
Call around and ask what the going rate for a pump replacement is. The amout of fuel in the tank will probably factor in to the pricing.
