so I recently bought this truck for quite cheap with the purpose of restoring it and making it my daily and small job hauling truck. it is however a running truck just with multiple small issues. one of which being an exhaust leak. I went and bought a new manifold gasket and apparently put it on incorrectly.

Then I started removing the entire exhaust and air intake system to include the carb, EGR valve, EGR valve spacer, and the exhaust and intake manifolds

Apparently theres a quite specific way to install the gasket on the manifolds for it to seat correctly and the gasket gave very vague instructions. If anyone has experience replacing this gasket please help me out here.

Also for bias I think I'm going to buy a brand new set of the exhaust and intake manifolds because one has 2 bolts broke off that I cant seem to remove and the other had a piece with one of the bolt holes chip off

 

REPLACE AT LEAST A COUPLE OF THE BOLTS WITH STUDS AND NUTS TO ALIGN EVERYTHING FIRST.

 

yeah alignment did seem to be a bit of an issue, I ended up using a motor lifter we had handy to try to hold it in place until I got all the bolts at least started in
