Hi, My 1997 ford explorer has this problem that when you start the engine it runs fine then it's makes a choking sound in the throttle body area I have a video of it on YouTube here's the link
Have you don't anything to try to solve this issue, such as remove the intake air tube and inspect the throttle plate? I'd start by making sure the throttle plate is clean, both front and back. I'd also clean the MAF sensor since you don't have just a stock paper air filter. If your air filter is one that uses oil to help trap the dirt, that oil has a tendency to coat the MAF sensor with a film, especially if you've ever cleaned and re-oiled since most of us tend to over-oil the filters.
