First Truck 97' F-250 HD

Hi guys I'm 15 and I just bought my first truck; a 97' F-250 HD 5.8l.
This truck needs some work that's why I bought it a full year early. It needs some minimal rust repair, tank straps, a filler neck and some exhaust work. Right now I am starting off by replacing the filler neck and tank straps for the front tank. I am wondering if I should just replace the tank while I'm at it, and to do these repairs should I just take the bed off the truck? I have atatched photos of the gas tank. Thanks for any feedbacAttachment 150453

Yep no pictures appeared. If the filler neck and tank straps are rusty enough to warrant replacing, I would think the tank can't be far from leaking due to rust. They're around $100 as I recall. You don't need to pull the bed, dropping tanks isn't too bad. But, it doesn't hurt if you have other stuff to do back there.

Nice I hope you get the fuel stuff all taken care of, subbing, I have some interest in maybe converting to dual tanks or moving mine from the rear to the front and getting a bigger tank. Just trying to decide and learn more about optimal weight distribution and get a feel for my 16 gal's range.

I also would like to do some rust prevention/repair on the frame. Any good suggestions on good value repair kits?
