Hi all,

I'm new to the forums as I just bought a 2015 XLT Supercrew flexfuel. I found an OEM tailgate with backup camera tailgate handle. I'm trying to switch it with mine to work with the 4.2" SYNC screen. I have a connector that was included in the glovebox.

I'm not sure wether it's already wired or not, I don't think it is based on the fact that there is only two wires coming from the current tailgate. I unplugged the current one and plugged in the new one with the camera, put the truck in reverse. No luck Any thoughts, suggestions, tips? I'd like to do the work myself if possible.

I would suspect that you need the factory computer to program the truck for the camera. That's either a dealership or a private auto tech shop that has the correct computer software.

 

Check into ForScan. Coupled with a proper OBD reader, you may be able to make the computer changes yourself.
