Transmission Wires Jumped

Transmission Wires Jumped
I've recently purchased a 99 F250 SD 6.8L with an auto trans.
It had a bunch of little stuff that needed to be fixed (locks, sway bar links, spare tire carrier, etc.) as well as a slight piston slap when cold so I got a screaming deal on it. I've got it all fixed up and love it. I've however found something weird that I can't understand. The other day I was under it installing a back up cam to make hooking up my trailer easier and while pulling the wires I noticed someone has cut and jumped two of the transmission wires near the connector. Any ideas why? I'm going to put them back but thought I'd ask before I do.
Also - love this site I've already found tons of helpful info.
