Help! Pink Fluid leaking from hose into Transmission? 97 f350

Hey guys, I have little to no knowledge about diesels, I recently purchased a 97 F350 power stroke, 7.3 diesel. He said he had a monster stage 2 transmission installed about 4 months ago.

I noticed it was leaking some light pink fluid on the passenger side of the transmission (see photos)

can anyone tell me what this is, and what that incoming line is where the leak is coming from? ATF fluid? or could this be coolant?

Thanks! Any idea what would cause water to get in the transmission? What would it take to get this fixed?

I wouldn't drive it that way, water bad for bearings

Could be from radiator or you went too deep into water recently

Yeah, did get her stuck in some deep watery mud about a week ago.

A transmission flush to start I guess?

I would flush it before doing anything. Also change filter too.

When I zoom in on it, it doesn't even look like fluid.

Checked the transmission dip and it's the same color and consistency, definitely seems like water must have somehow got in? But unless it splashed into the top of the dip stick not sure how it would get in.

hot tranny in cold water, it will enter in anywhere it can get sucked into by a vacuum

I have seen many bearing, axles, suspensions, transmissions get water in this way on many different things over the years

Thanks for all your help guys, Yeah I guess it got in pretty good and churned up too, probably drove it for a week before I noticed it.

Talked to a local transmission shop and they said only way to get the water out is to do an overhaul or its guaranteed to fail. This is a stage 2 monster transmission less then 6 months old, is there anything else (cheaper then tearing the trans apart) that could be done?

You have two choices: Rebuild it, or flush it (CLICK HERE for a DIY flush).

If you flush it the trans may or may not fail. The only way to know would be to tear it down and see what's happened from the water. One of the worse things that happens from water is that the glue that holds the friction material in place dissolves and all the clutches fail.

If you were deep enough for water to get into the tranny, you better check the differentials too!
