sensor location on block for gauges

i just picked up some guages to replace the 'Normal' idiot guage readings...

I have a temp gauge, and oil pressure gauge, and a ampere gauge.

The ampere gauge is simple, i can do that blind folded...

the temp and oil pressure guage is the problem. Where are plugs in the block where i can put these sensors? hooking them up looks easy enough, but i don't see any holes in the block! (maybe thats a good thing )

The water temp sender port is on thr passenger side of the block, down low in the water jacket. Do not use the port in the t'stat housing that is for the ECT sensor that feeds the computer. The oil pressure sender is on the driver's side in the oil galley just aft of the filter. Both of them will have senders for the idiot lights screwed into them. In order to keep the idiot lights functional, you need to screw a nipple ant tee into the existing ports anf reinstall the factory sender in one leg and hook your sensor to the other.

You can change your instrument cluster to the gauge type just by swapping one in. You don't have to do anything at all to your wiring harness, or change the temp sender. The temp gauge will work the way you want.

To get the OE oil gauge to be functional, you have to swap the pressure switch (brass) for a sender (galvanized steel) from the parts store (~$12) for a pre-'86 truck and short across the 20 Ohm resistor on the back of the gauge cluster. Look at this pic:

It's the tiny tan thing in the top R corner of the film circuit with 3 stripes and it says "20 Ohm" above it. That will make the oil gauge real.
