sounds like a good plan. if it is just a broken spring he does not even need to remove the head.
and it also sounds like you just found your lifetime mechanic!!

Absolutely did. He has his own small one man shop, and he obviously doesn't need a ridiculous markup. Hell, he has his own parts truck just for his truck. He also said he could get me into a turbo kit for $900 installed from parts he had, but I didn't plan on turboing her, so I declined that offer!

that is a killer offer on the turbo. you are looking at minimum 10 hours doing the install knowing what you are doing. so even if he only charges $50 per hour you are looking at least $500 for labor to do the install.
then you need to add in the price of the turbo, and that is a smoking deal .
sounds like he is retired, and just doing repairs to keep from going crazy.

or killing his wife.

Nope, he's about 35 or so! And I'll send others on here his way?

I'm sure many people would gladly drive that far to get a turbo installed for $900!

In other news, I remounted the wheel fender tool boxes today. ******* me decided to mount them to close to the bed rails where it was nigh impossible to open them. I fixed that. In case anyone was looking at buying those, DONT unless you have someone to help you put it in. Trying to do it myself is the most anger-inducing thing I've done in a while.

Also, I got one of the stairs mounted (I'll do the other tomorrow and a pic will come in the next 10 or so minutes.

Last thing I bought, was some roof rack rails (heavy duty, not the plastic Thule ones) for my kayak! I also bought a cargo basket from Kurt and I'll probably mount my spare up there.

Well, sort of kind of. He had a used tach sensor lying around (he has a ton of IDI parts) and he said it worked when he pulled it. So he put it in for free and at first I thought it didn't work but now, when going maybe 45 MPH and accelerating, the OD light turns off and the tach picks up some RPM, but not the correct amount. This seems to throw the shifts off a lot until the OD light comes back on. Is it worth it to try the new sensor?

can't hurt to try it. if the new sensor still don't work than it has to be a bad wire.

i don't need a turbo, i have had one on my truck since it was 3 weeks old.
turbo was the very first thing that was put one every one of the truck.

I personally love the sound of an N/A engine though!

Don't know why I just finished this up at 1 AM, but the carrier bars look pretty sick on the truck. Here's some pics: Name: photo758.jpg

That's what tomorrow is for! Two kayaks and a paddle board, and I'll probably be cleaning the bed out also. I'll get some pictures of that!

I took her out for her first outdoor romp today! She's actually really capable and it seems easier to drive off-road than even my 08 F250 with a lift and 37's. Name: photo148.jpg

Probably because of the TTB front axle. Allows it to function like independent suspension
