2008 F250 with a 6.4l

Hey guys, I'm a new diesel owner and I recently purchased a 08 f250 king ranch with a 6.4l. After a week I noticed a few oil drops on my driveway. Took it to a ford dealership here in central California and was told the bed plate was leaking. Damn. They proceeded to tell me that the motor has to come out which requires the cab to come off. $2700 bucks and I don't have a warranty. Is this common for these international motors? I read these motors were only used for 3 years and that raises more concern for possible future issues. Any info would be great.

Yes this is common. Happened to my building partner. I feel for you and I would never recommend a 6.4 to anyone. Ive seen this cr@p so many times. It can be a slippery slope. My friend traded it in when they found the leaking bed plate. Same exact thing on my other good friends 6.0. He traded then too. Sorry about the bad news.
