1988 Ford F250 460 problems??

Hey guys wandering if you could help me out. I have a 1988 F250 with the 460 engine. It will run fine when I crank it up cold, but after it warms up it will cut off. It starts to hesitate then cuts off even when i am pressing the gas pedal.

We put on a new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, and distributor with ignition module, no change.

If any one has run into this problem LMK, need help.

Start by pulling the codes, do you have a check engine light?

Pull the codes anyways, there may be a code set without actually triggering a light.

I would be wondering about the system's temp sensor. If the system doesn't know the engine is warming up, it will continue to run rich. On a mechanically injected engine this will cause the exact symptoms you are experiencing. I don't know what would make an EFI engine any different.

You don't see any common denominators here?

I'm no expert, but I think you've got a pretty good indication as to where to go next.

Those look like Key On Engine Running codes. It's highly advised to run the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and Stored Code (Continuous Memory) display. Fix any issues flagged there first, then go on to the KOER.

In either case you can trigger a false Code 21 if you do not warm up the engine first.
