Question of the Week: Will you get your airbag inflators replaced?
Ford has added the 2007-2011 Ranger to the long list of vehicles affected by the faulty Takata airbag inflators.
Many owners ignore recall notices and with no reports of any actual inflator fractures in Ford vehicles, we want to know how many Ranger owners plan to have their vehicle checked out under the new recall?

"Planning" to get the airbag inflators replaced won't get you anything. Takata has so many inflators to replace that it'll be years before it gets accomplished. I received a notification last year that my airbag was affected by the recall, but at the rate it's going, my 2004 Ranger will be eligible for "antique" license plates before Ford has enough in stock to replace the airbag inflators of non-new vehicles..

WHAT WOULD BE GREAT is a way of disabling the goddamn things in the interim.
For example, the ON/OFF switch, it's just a damn shame those haven't been invented yet. Maybe someday.

I already got my passenger side done. No parts available for the driver's side yet, but I will get it done as soon they're available. In the meantime, I'm not worried about the airbags deploying. The chances of having metal shrapnel hitting you is very slim. Most of the recalled airbags deploy normally.
