Radio dies when I open the glove box.

Just like the title says when I open my glove box my radio looses power. And it doesn't get power back unless I slam the glove box shut. I assume there is a loose connection in the dash. Any suggestions where to start looking? Just to maybe save some time.

Thanks, Joe

Get the cheapo double din radio removal tool (if you don;t already have it). Remove the radio and make sure the connections are secure. Then remove your glove box and look for worn wires.

I have to admit, though, my immediate thought when I read your thread title was," Duhhh... just don't open the glove box any more!"... but I managed to hold that smart@55 comment back until I offered a serious response first. [Note to self... successful implementation of self-control at least ONE time today].

Extra Note... Joe, I'm really not trying to make fun... just HAVING a little fun! Absolutely no ridicule intended towards you at all.

Congratulations on the successful implementation of self control todayl! It was beautifully executed, if I may say so myself. Now if you can keep it up for 21 more days, you could turn implementing self control, ONCE per day, into a permanent habit! Let me know if you need a sponsor.

On a different note thanks for the actual suggestion. Question, I still have the original Ford head unit, does it use a standard double din removal tool?

Thanks,
Joe

uses double din. $5 at autozone or make your own with coat hanger. ceiling grid wire works good

I have two set of the radio removial tools, as for the function of the radio, perhaps leaving the glove box switch in the "closed" possition might help? of course you could just stop using the glove box, not like it does any thing other then store things....

LOL!!!!

Joe, I probably DO need a sponsor because I've NEVER been successful for more than a few days strung together! LOL

Seriously, though, the standard double din removal tool will do you just fine.

Does the glove box light work?

If not, check fuses for it. The radio and the glove box light are on the battery minder relay. These two items are associated with each other electrically. It's not going to be a "loose connection".
