Ac not cool at idle
So i have topped off refrigerant, if i rev the engine it blows cool air, when driving it also blows cold air. Is this a compressor or clutch problem or just bot enough air flowing across the condensor. I have searched around and havent found any clear answers other than there just isnt enough air flow across condensor. Any help would be apressiated

I live in south florida.. So its kinda warm lol. 1993 f150 4.9l 4x4. Actually while i have a post up, i also and curious if it is possible to get rid of my CEL. I have 311 and 332 codes. They came out of no where basically. Past owner removed vacuum canister and blocked off lines and removed some of the smog system. Is it possible to get rid of the codes without messing with buying new emissions tubing and figuring all that crap out? I do not have emissions checks

No i do not have a fan shroud, i replaced the fan clutch a year ago. I dont think the system is overcharged. But i do need a new compressor or compressor clutch because i took the belt off and spun it and it sounded like someone was dragging a peice of steel along concrete lol i just need to know if i need to replace both orjust the clutch

You have everything going against you. No fan shroud, converted R134a and you live in a hot climate. The noise you heard is most likely the clutch dragging. You really need to measure the low and high side pressures. As previously noted overcharging is worse than undercharge.

If the compressor is weak/worn, then your orifice tube caught all of the debris most likely.
You can evacuate the system and look at that first. It being clogged can be seen by a too high, high side psi and a too low, low side psi. It'll cause the compressor to cycle a lot on the low pressure switch.
Get a shroud first and then you can read the high side psi more accurately without the lack of airflow hurting the results.

I tested my 87 the other day. Had around 25 psi on the low side and around 190 psi on the high side while the compressor was running and engine at idle. It was around 80f that day. It's been converted to 134. The compressor cycles fairly quickly. A/C blows semi decently. Do you think I'm undercharged?
