Its felt very hot here today, cutting brush with a chainsaw, piling and burning didn't help matters much.
And to think, tomorrow is that dreaded Monday.

Whatever happened to the times when we got normal rains? I mean like 1/4-1/2" spread out over the day as a slow, steady drizzle. It started raining here about 1AM and by 8:30AM we officially gotten 6.05 inches. This was in the NWS gauge at the park. The river is on a fast rise again, how high it goes, nobody knows.

Grrrr!!!!! Decided it was time to get the ol 83 F250 down off the rack so that I could use the winch. Truck fired right up, ran for 30 seconds or so and ran out of fuel. Flipped the switch to the front tank and never could get it to prime. In looking farther I discovered that rats had eaten the fuel line to the rear tank and the wiring to the fuel selector valve. Looks like its time for some rat bait and truck repairs.

My little car got mouse'd last week. They ate #3 plug wire. And of course I couldn't find singles, only sets.

The nest on top of the valve cover

The eaten section of the plug wire was not recovered in the nest. Notice all the nibble marks on the top of the boots.

That's about the same amount that was missing from the fuel line on my truck. Ever tried replacing the rear fuel lines on a 83 F250 diesel with our dropping the tank? Its not a fun job, especially after I had let it roll down off the ramp. If only I had known. ;-)
Now its time to figure out what happened to the tank selector valve. It gets fire, just no operation.

I thought they only chewed through stuff that was in their way. I cant imagine plug wires being too tasty.

Maybe you guys need an outside cat or two?

There are several domesticated cats here, and I have even seen a bobcat right outside my window. I hear owls pretty often too. They can't get all the rodents. Once they get up into a confined space like that they are safe from any animal large enough to not be able to fit where they can.

I can't imagine a hose full of diesel being too tasty either.
Now onto my other project. Here's the little water well rig. I know it doesn't look like much, but there's two wells here that are 200' that were drilled with an older version of the same. The pits are for drill mud and settling ponds for the cuttings. Gonna get started drilling Sat. morning. Wish me luck!

How do you keep the floodwater out of the well? Do you bring the casing up to a raised platform?

Exactly! That and the top of the casing is sealed with a "sanitary cap" Just a cap that has holes for the water line and power cord to fit through.
