New to diesels, not new to fords

Didn't know the correct section to post this in, but anyways, I just picked up a 2001 f250 ex cab shortbed with the 7.3 6-speed 4x4, only 184k miles, my other rig is a 1979 f150, didn't want to bring that down here with these SC drivers though, anyways, can't wait to read through this furum and pick up some ideas for the new rig

nice rig, now when are you starting with the build thread and mods? just be warned we might be able to help you fire off Buck$Zooka rounds faster then you may like, just be mindful of the barrel as it might get red hot...also make sure its 100% healthy before starting the mods, gauges and a good OBD reader and Torque pro is a good start (Torque Pro FAQ link in my sig by the way) and I am sure there are a few items I forgot...

Thanks y'all, I think performance wise it's going to stay stock for now, probably going to do a couple cosmetic things, but my main focus is going to be getting the 79 on the road again. I'm new to the world of diesels, so what would some good maintenance items be to do to get me started?

I even like the color. A good place to start would be the air filter system. They are known to leak in dust and is not good for your turbo/engine.

Reason #1 why I didn't want to bring the 79 down here.. This'll set me back a bit.. On another note, helped a friend move his wife up to base, he didn't want her driving the u-haul AND. A trailer, so I drug it for him, truck did great, 16 mpg's without, 15 with the trailer, definitely going to look for power upgrades though

Sucks about the damage, but life goes on.

As for power upgrades, looking into an intake, tuner, new I/C boots and billet turbo wheel and you will be happy with minimal modifications and cost.
