59 F250 4x4

I spend most of my time on the older truck section because of my 40 panel and my preference in general for pre-war models. But I have a soft spot for the 57-60 models and have been looking for a decent one a long time. I've owned a few in the past 5 years that ended up not being what I wanted. Anyway, picked this up at an auction last week. All complete and a really solid cab. Last licensed in 79. We tried to fire it up and it cranked good but needs points. Will keep you posted and get more pics.

Plans in general are to first get it running. If it's sound the drivetrain stays. If it isn't I have a 460/ZF that might find it's way in. Also because I strongly prefer the 57-58s with the ribbed hood and round turn signals I will be looking for a donor big truck with a nice front clip so I can have the big wheel wells.
All that of course could change it someone offers me a decent price for it and I can keep looking for a 57-58 big window custom cab F100.

Can't give you the whole front clip, but I may have some nice '58 F600 fenders for you!

Thanks for the offer. I'll see how it shakes out, not in a huge hurry. Summer keeps me pretty busy and my 40 tonner panel is my main project.

I got it home and unloaded today but didn't get much done. I did get a new ignition switch ordered. I'll try to light a fire in it when it's cooler out in the morning. Hasn't been licensed since 79, cranks over ok but no spark. I'll try some new points. And I'll keep you all posted.

I brought the old 292 out of it's long slumber today. Didn't sound too bad, 50 pounds oil pressure. Carb rebuilt, tune up and valve adjust next.

Looks like a great starter. I don't know if your short term plans include paint, but the '58 F600 fenders I have are that Seaspray Green! While I'd like to hold on to the valance, I do have another very nice black one that would mate with the round parking lamps.

No short term plans for paint, just get it drivable and go from there. If I do change the front, I'm hoping to find a whole truck and just do the front clip since the grill is wavey too and my passenger door kinda dented so hopefully a donor would have that too.. Then I would probably paint it. Since the April green is laid over the colonial white, I might change the 2 tone to Indian turquoise or Goldenrod yellow at that point. It would be only the second truck I ever got far enough with to paint and the other was 25 years ago.

I've had a few fridges but never a 4x4. The thing is growing on me fast.

FTE member Col Flashman has a NOS front valance for a 1957/60 F700/1100. I doubt he will ever install it on his '58 M100.

There are 3 ND Ford dealers that have obsolete parts: Located in Lidgerwood, Bowman & Walhalla.

But no Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has this valance.

I love the Black Hills area, going to visit again in September.

Bowman isn't that far, I go through there occasionally. If anyone is ever in that area, drive about 25 miles west of Bowman to Marmarth. It's barely a wide spot in the road but has an awesome museum of old Fords and other cool stuff.
Black Hills are pretty cool, gets a little crazy during the Sturgis bike rally in August

Will that Big Job valance bolt to a pickup? Would be cool with the holes in it. And 57-60 are all the same? I would then presume the 59-60 Big Job still had round park lights? I can't find pictures of a 59-60 F700-1100

8188 lower grille panel (front valance) applications.

Col Flashman said it would fit F100/1100, but I have no experience, so cannot verify.

Was in Rapid City in 1988, stayed at the Alex Johnson Hotel where scenes from North by Northwest were filmed. Scenes were also filmed at the airport.
