F350 Advice?
#16
I've said it before and I'll say it again I will never understand why people buy vehicles off a lot with the check engine light on and don't have the dealer fix it before they buy the vehicle if they want to sell it they will fix it. I don't care the light is on because the gas cap didn't get tightened all the way I'm not taking possession of something without know what's up with it. Little late now and most likely not related to your failure. It's not even legal in some if not all states for a dealer to sell you a vehicle with the check engine light on which is why you hear a lot of I got 10 miles down the road from the dealer and the light came on because they just clear it and they can say it wasn't on when you left. Anyway you may also want to consider finding a used engines to put in instead depending on what is actually wrong with it. You maybe able to get a lower mile motor in there for cheaper than just doing the head in your curent motor if the gaskets are infact bad. But if it just spit a plug do the timesert and have the other plugs done so you know when they were done but at the very least I'd check the torque of the rest of them and hopefully you can avoid any more spitting plugs.

Update!
I just wanted to give you all an update. I followed the forums advice and got a second opinion. This time I was told that it just needed a new spark plug and a new coolant reservoir. Despite the other shop being "Ford Certified," this shop who is also certified was very confused by the original diagnosis. I am not sure what the other shop could have gained from telling me it was a head gasket. They didn't seem that interested in fixing it. In fact, they encouraged me to go to another shop that was less busy. Anyhow, thank you guys for all of your help! My truck is back in perfect order!
