Radiator Grile Emblem Ornament - 2006 Navigator
The emblem on the front of my Navigator was in poor shape. So I bought a new one. Once it came in, I thought the installation process would be unbolt and remove the grille and then unbolt and remove the emblem.
So I unbolted the 5 10mm nuts and 4 11mm bolts holding the grille to the hood. (Different than Expedition which is attached to the body of the vehicle) The grille was loose however it was still engaged to the hood and near the top and I was not clear on how to move the grille to disengage the hood. I am not keen on breaking other parts to fix the original issue.
I got out the shop manual. No mention of emblem removal at all. There is a paragraph on removing the emblem for Expedition. So I went to Youtube, because Youtube has everything, right?. I learned how to install aftermarket grille - NOTHING on the emblem.
Frustrated I went back out to the SUV and brought a towel and wide screw driver. Pried the emblem and the top came off with the bottom still engaged to the grille. I finally pried off the bottom. The new one just pushes on. No glue, no adhesive tape just friction.
Now it looks so much better than the old de-laminated emblem.
So maybe this is obvious to everyone else with no mention in the shop manual however I thought it might be worth posting
