Where are you searching for sensors, cuz it's worthless....DPFE? That's a new truck thing..
The broken sensor is your exhaust back pressure sensor, I can't believe truck runs like that.... Shorting the wires together kills all the sensors on the motor, thus shutting it down.
That new fuel bowl is the 96-97 bowl, it's better then your old one so use it.
The sensor that plugs into the FPR on the side is the fuel filter sensor, the 2 wires behind it directly on the bowl are the fuel heater on top, and the water in fuel sensor below.
Sounds to me like either your return line is plugged, or the screen inside the big black housing on your old FPR is plugged, from the pics it looks like you never removed it.
Unused Fuel from the heads goes through the regulator, then down the steel line to the bottom of the bowl and back to the filter, heads and around again....
The tiny air purge port goes through that screen, then directly to the return line to the tank.

I should have said the broken sensor is your EBP sensor, the single wire sensor is your oil pressure sensor.
Also, your original FPR is missing the fuel filter sensor, looks like the port was never threaded for it, which is odd.
It's also possible a check valve somewhere in your FPR is sticking and allowing air to be pulled in on the return side.
My theory is you've got a bad leak on the suction side of your fuel system, between the tank and pump, and its letting in so much air that tiny orfice can't expelled it back to the tank fast enough.

The part that was broken was the EGR pressure feedback sensor. Just picked up a new one and a new ECT. I also could use a new PVC valve.

Thanks! I didn't want to give up on it!! I am just glad I found that issue. I go on vacation and I plan on dropping the tanks when I get back to clean them out and put the new pickup feet on them and new pickup tubes. It seems like it runs so much better since doing the fuel bowl. Hit the highway and everything. Appreciate all the help! Husstler you were especially helpful. Thank you!!

The EGR pressure feedback you mean? Its a solid metal line. That I will probably address when I give the engine a little makeover with aftermarket parts. Its getting a paint job in a couple months.
