Truck Cranks but no start. Ongoing issue
Hey everyone.
Truck: 1993 F150 I6 4.9L 2 wheel drive ford.
The problem is I crank the engine and it doesn't turn over. A bit of background here...A few years ago It had done the same thing and had replaced the fuel pump wiring harness and it worked. About a year ago I went uptown and parked the truck went into the grocery store and came out and it happened again with cranking but no starting. I got it towed back to my house and tried to fire it up and it worked good for a couple years after that ..wtf?
Now, just the other day I had drove home and there was a huge rain storm and my truck had stalled on the road ( sprayed by rain and maybe got itnto the engine or intake) but it had started up after. Went home and it sat there for a day then wouldn't start again (crank but no luck).
Things I have checked: The fuel pump seems to be not working as there was no pressure on the fuel lines and did not here the fuel pump start. I had checked for spark and it seems to be a very weak spark. I haven't checked the inertia switch yet and will do so but seems like there is an overarching problem. PLEASE HELP!.. Ignition coil, fuel pump, ECM fried? anything else.
Thanks

Stop whatever else you're doing and pull codes from the computer. If the problem is electrical/circuit related then you will know where to start with KOEO codes. If you don't know how, use the link I added and write down the codes.
Alternatively, order one of these from Amazon and it's a lot simpler to get definitive codes.

Yes, I had found that it was code 542 that the PCM to fuel pump ground was a fault. I had checked and the 4 wire connector at the fuel pump was caked with dirt and some wires were off and I could easily pull the connector off. I might as well replace the fuel pump and everything while I go in there? Just wondering if I could pull the fuel tank straps off and get it connected again as the 4 pin/wire connection is hidden on the top of the tank under the drybox.
Thanks
