Oil in the valley

Last couple of days I've been chasing a small oil leak. Finally figured out it's coming from one of the hoses connected to the lower part of the hpop (hpop hose). Leak is coming from the fitting connected to the lower part of hpop. Do I need to replace the whole hose and fitting? Just the fitting? is there a replaceable washer or oring? Any help would be appreciated.

It is usually an O-ring. dieselorings.com. has what you want. You will need the tool and get the loctite from him as well.

Thanks HKusp

I was looking at Dieselorings.com and do see where they sell the O-rings but also noticed the fittings. The description of the fittings claim to not use the "backcheck springs and seat" it seems the new fitting is more of an upgrade? Where does the "backcheck springs and seat" come from? Within the HPOP itself or inside the OEM fitting or hose? Thanks for the help.

I believe it's the fitting. I definitely isn't the HPOP.

You want to replace BOTH the fitting and the O-Ring. The Fittings are up-dated OEM Part

Okay, I got the discharge fittings and the special tool. Im having a little bit of a hard time tring to take off the hose with the tool. The directions say to push the fitting in with one hand and with the other hand push the tool in and the hose should come off. Well it's not happening for me. The hose seems to loosen a little but won't come off. The tool doesn't seem to go in very much.Is there any special tips or advise out there that would help me out?

Here's a cutaway of the fitting so you can see how it latches and releases. When you insert the tool, it forces the tapered part of the release sleeve under the latch ring to expand it and allow the fittings to separate.

Pikachu thank u very much. I had feeling it might be dirt and grim that was holding it together. Some brake cleaner might help? Will get back at tomorrow. Thanks again.

Alright, after cleaning the fittings with brake cleaner they came apart easily with the tool. Here is a good tip for anyone that has not done this before. Before installing the new fittings make sure u clean out the threads in the hpop. I had some dried up pieces of old lock tite stuck in threads and when I was trying to enstall the new ones it was giving me a hard time. After threading the old fitting in and out a few times and blowing it clean the new ones threaded in easily. Say a little prayer for me, I hoping that there are no leaks when I start up. Instructions say to let the new loctite cure for 3 hrs. Thanks for all the help.
