Should I be using a fuel addative in my 7.3?

I have a 95 7.3 and have heard that I should use an additive in the fuel because of the low sulfur content.

Is this true?

Fuel is required to meet a minimum lubrication standard, the standard has been the same forever, despite the sulfer being taken out. They add lubricants to fuel now to meet the requirements.

I for 1 have rarely ever use additives and ive put over 200K on 1 truck. I only use them if it's below 0, and that's for antigelling, which again, I've never had a problem with up here in frozen Fargo....

only thing I keep hearing is to add in some cheap walmart two stroke oil in the tank
people run used motor oil, veggie oil, ATF in these

I add some 2 stroke oil to my diesel tractor when I fill it up

I also use 3 oz per five gallons on all my gas powered carbureted machines since the ethanol and water eats aluminum fast. the oil coats the parts and no more clogged jets

ran my 420 tractor that way for 10 years and no more carb issues with ethanol

I've been using the "cheap" Super Tech 2cy ashless oil from WM for years (1oz/gal) and have never had a leak or gel issue. I got a dozen 8oz plastic bottles from Harbor Freight and graduated some by the oz with a black marker to add at the pump.

I started using the "witches brew", 1:5 oz power service diesel Clean:2 stroke oil and 1:1 oz 2 stroke:gallon fuel

SO for a 20 gallon tank, 4 oz Diesel Clean and 20 oz 2 stroke oil.

There was a very noticeable difference in how my truck idled and ran. So noticeable, my buddy told me it was running smoother and asked what I had done. I am a belieber

UH.... Believer.

If my WIF light comes on, I run Seafoam through it, and if it's real cold out, I'll use Iso-Heet (red bottle) to help with starting. Occasionally, I'm switching to Archoil fuel and oil additives once its oil change time to see if it lives up to the hype.

I have been running 12oz of Redline 2 Stroke oil in each tank since I bought the truck. It makes me feel better. It works out to 170:1 ratio. You can run Redline at 100:1 for total lubrication for 2 Strokes so I figure it must help at this ratio.

That is great!
My question is how much better would the engine be if it ran Redline at 170:1 for the last 300k?

A very wise and knowledgeable sole advised me to at least run some kind of two stroke oil as an additive to help the injectors once I rebuilt them....

I gave up the witch's brew and switched to opti-lube. One oz per 20 gal of fuel.
