Fog lights, some opinions please.

What do you guys think is the best placement. Project Cobalt came with, a brand new diesel bumper, so I can always run something like Hella 550's in the outer holes, or go with a Lightning air dam and go factory style fogs.

Any other ideas?

Personally I like the the Hella 550's in the bumper the best.

But I have seen other people put some in or behind the grille too.

Here's the setup I like:

Mounting directly to the top of the bumper makes it easy to mount them solidly. And I like to aim them pretty far to the sides which you can't do as well if they are recessed into the bumper or grill. This way the two beams just barely overlap in the middle, but they spread way out to both sides.

Also I like the '70s - '80s style of lights mounted to the bumper, but that's me.

Obviously if I go after market style I will need to mount up a switch for the lights.

What about the Lightning Factory lights? Were they wired up in the headlight switch itself?

It doesn't (much) matter which lights you use, the wiring won't mind. Aftermarket or factory you need to wire it either way.

Personally I like to be able to keep my fog lights from coming on, but I never want them on if I don't also have my running lights on. So I tapped into my running lamp circuit. From there I go through a switch (mounted under the dash) to a relay. So the fog lights won't be on unless the extra switch is on. But if the switch is on they will go on and off when I turn the running lights on and off.

If you didn't care for the extra shut-off switch you could just go from the running lights to the relay and the fog lights would go on and off with the main headlight switch.

Lightning fog lights are NOT in the headlight switch.

There is a separate switch that goes in the panel to the left of the push button 4wd
