1991 E250 - I want to install Tilt Steering

I have a 1991 Ford Econoline E250 with a regular steering column.
I need some extra room, so I want to put in a tilt steering column.
Anyone know what years/Vehicles I can pull a tilt steering column from?
Any recomendations on aftermarket or other vehicle seats that bolt into the van also? Im 6'7" and the stock small vinal seats are gone.

That style of van 1st came out in 1975/76 and last year was 1993?
The column is gonna be unit specific.

Best thing I could suggest about the column is start scouring the junkyards.

As for the seats, the stock lowbacks were next to useless. Find a conversion van at the junk yard you like and negotiate for the seats/column/other parts. Depending on where you live in country the column could range from 150 to 275. If you hit a "PICK & PULL" you could possibly do better.

Same goes for the seats. Probably in neighborhood of 75-150 ea. depending on what you get. Obviously captains chairs will be more.

From what I can tell, the vans are pretty much the same from 1975 to 1991. In 1992 the exterior changed, but the interior still looks pretty much the same.

There is a junk yard here (u-pull) that has seats $35-50 a pair, but its small and not much there at the moment.

The steering column has the shifter, indicator, and turn signals, im just wondering what years I can pull the column from, if the full range, or only till 1991, or ?

Check all the connectors against your current stock in your van. Make diagrahms of all the connectors. check the length of the column on either side of the firewall plate, take top and bottom measurements from the plate to a given point, on the outside the end of the outer sheath, and on the inside to the dash mount or fascia cup edge behind wheel(where the junk hides). Then see if the junkyard one matches up..

MAKE SURE THERE IS NO LATERAL MOVEMENT (side to side). The joints on the fords and Chryslers had a nasty propensity to get loose sideways and eventually break, due to being used as a support to climb in.

You might be able to get away with a 92 or newer, BUT you may need to re-key the lock. If you go with a 85-91 you should be able to change out the lock sets and use your old keys.

Junk yard computers show 1982-1991 use the same steering columns from all their vans, as long as I make sure they match options (cruise/overdrive). Mine has neither, but I was told there should be alot of them floating around in junk yards. Now just to find one.
