Who's running an Intake?

I am contemplating the idea of buying an aftermarket intake set up, either sinister or no limit. I have seen plenty of posts bashing intakes because they don't filter as well as stock, but I drive the truck very little in non-dusty or dirty conditions. So my questions are, with those who have upgraded intakes, did you notice any increase in performance or increase in "engine note" as most intakes produce?

I am not, but from what I understand, factory box is pretty much a cold air set up in itself, as it pulls in air right from the front of the truck and the filter being incased allows it to stay cooler. Plus I've read on here, that the factory box is good for a bump in power up to around the 400-450hp mark.

My truck came with a K&N intake and a CHEAP non k&n filter. I opted for s&b, it was cheaper than going back to oem.

Plus yes you will hear an increase in noise(sounds awesome) If you stick your ear near the front grill it literally sounds like a grumbling growling lion

The kids truck has an AFE, which to me is just another K&N or other clone.
While it does sound kind of nice, I would have left the stock box on if it was with the truck when purchased.
All the experts here will tell you leave the stock box on, and I would agree.
I think some of these mods, as I mentioned a few months ago on another thread, really boil down to another decal to stick in the window or another thing to add to our sig.
When I read the description of mine, for instance, of "up to 14 HP gains" I just chuckle and ask myself what else did they do to that set up to achieve those extra 14 ponies? Drag race fuel?

I've run an Airaid for a lot of years with no damage to my aftermarket turbos, but for a stock turbo, I'd leave it stock and save your money. You won't see any gains.

I have an Air raid intake. It was on the truck when I bought it. I keep a spare filter to switch out when I clean the dirty one.
