2016 F150 Lariat ambient lighting question

Hey guys,

I picked up my brand new 2016 Lariat a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that with the ambient lighting on, and the truck dark otherwise inside, it seems like the lighting for the passenger side floorboard doesnt work. When I look at the light under the dash it is on, but it doesnt seem anywhere near as bright as the rest of the lighting modules.

Normal? Issue? I spent enough money on this truck that I feel everything should work right, even if it seems nit picky.

Thanks

I don't have ambient lighting in my vehicle but are you sure there isn't a dimmer? I am not sure one way or the other but that is my first thought. See if you can find a setting in your manual/DIC. If there is none I would take it in for inspection.

No, no dimmer that I can find. And, I would think it would be odd to have individual settings for the different zones. Anyway, it is noticeably darker over there, so I guess when I get a chance I will take it in.

The dimmer, as well as color choice, is in the settings on the center 8" screen. But all lights get dimmed the same amount when using it.

in the sync system...go to system under vehicle is ambient lighting (at least in the '16). Check your sync manual for instructions.

Yeah, I found that. The passenger light stick is on, but it doesnt put any light down into the passenger foot well. It is almost like there is supposed to be a reflector or something behind the light stick, and there isnt. There is almost no point of having the light in the foot well on the passenger side as it is now.

I have a 2016 Lariat with technology package and with what I thought was every other option available but I do not see any menu option for ambient lighting in either the vehicle settings or on the sync radio. When I choose "Lighting", all I get is the headlamp off delay settings.

So is Ambient Lighting color/intensity another option that is absent on mine, or am I looking in the wrong place??? I thought a Lariat had pretty much all of everything.

Page 442 of the 2015 owner's manual says:

Press the Settings icon >Vehicle, then select from the following:
• Ambient Lighting.
• Vehicle Health Report.
• Camera Settings.
• Enable Valet Mode.

Ambient Lighting (If Equipped)
When you turn this feature on, ambient lighting illuminates various places, such as the footwells, with a choice of colors. To access and make adjustments:

1. Press the Settings icon > Vehicle >Ambient Lighting.
2. Touch the desired color.
3. Use the scroll bar to increase or decrease the intensity.
To turn the feature on or off, press the power button.

I don't get any menus for ambient lighting...must be a 2015 thing, or a separate option on 2016s? Anybody got a 2016 Lariat WITHOUT ambient lighting or am I doing something wrong?

Ambient lighting is standard equipment in 2016 Lariats (500A package) and above. If you have a 2016 Lariat, you should have ambient lighting. The lighting controls are on the touchscreen.

Just a thought - you are aware there's two pages of settings, right? Ambient lighting is on the second page. Just drag your finger across the screen to change pages.

I wish the ambient lighting would change the dash lighting, too. So I just keep it blue so everything is the same color.

WOOHOOO! Found it on "page 2"....wouldn't a reasonable designer have put a note on page one telling us there IS a page 2, or mention this in the manual??? Who would have thunk it.

On my console, when you navigate to a page, there's a little display with arrows going up/down/left/right to show where you can navigate from there. If you're at the "end" so to speak, the appropriate arrow get grayed out. When I first got the truck I followed all the menus/pages to all the places to see what was all there.
