Spray on liner damaged!!!

I recently moved some ping pong table for my brother with the tailgate down and either the liner is thinner on the tailgate, or the liner is getting old and brittle. Regardless I have a chip in my liner in several places. In once place the chip even chipped the paint. In the other the chip just exposed the paint. I saw some other spots where it seems like the liner is worn down to the paint.

I live in Texas where it gets hotter than hell, I guess I want to know for a 2005 Ranger that was spray lined in 2005, is this normal? Should I worry about it? If so how can I fix it? I read about the different brands of liners, I am not even sure what brand of liner I have at this point.

I put in the paint in stuff from Oriellys, herculiner or something, have had several places chip out from rubs etc. Have resprayed the damaged areas with the stuff in a rattle can, it comes out black turns gray ver time. Also used the stuff from Harbor freight. All works so so, just doesnt match what I had therir originally. Check with rino linings and the other places there may be a record on the truck, but if not original owner not much ya can do. You can try the paint on stuff just do over the whole bed.

Welcome to FTE.
My Line-X dealer re-sprayed my tailgate for me about 10 years ago after my chipper/shredder got away from me when loading & its foot plate peeled a hang nail of lining up. Can't tell its been over sprayed 10 years later, so yes they can be repaired & look good.
Just depends on the quality of the product & how well the under layer surface prep was done by the installer.
Upon delivery, I drove my then brand new 99 Ranger straight from the Dealer, to my LineX shop for its spray in coating. It's still intact & looks good, so can last a looooong time if done right & can be repaired if we mess it up.

I am the original owner... I plan to drive this Ranger until it craps out... I think it has a while before that happens it runs well, and it has a damn good AC which is about all the really matters in Texas.

I will call the dealer to check on the warranty for that liner, ifi cannot I will try that canned stuff... they are small chips I just do not want them to be something worse later. I do not use my truck bed too much.

If you decide to over spray it with an after market product, surface prep is an absolute must, for it to adhere well & last as long as it can. Nothing in a can is likely to be as durable as the commercially applied product though. So if like me your likely to keep the vehicle until one or the other passes on, consider having it over sprayed with the commercial product, you'll likely be more satisfied if your kinda picky like me.
