My seat is in my truck, bed is not on..

The Amish upholsterer finally did my seat. Two months he had it. It took him one day. Anyway I am pleased with it. Here are the pics

There is a spot on the seat back. He said it was on the material when he got it. It is NOS material, so it may have been there for years.

In the truck:

I sit a lot higher on this seat. I ordered the 2" foam from Mid-Fifty. I wish I had gotten the 1".

And now the bed! I worked on getting the boards on Friday. But I had other things to do too. I mowed 4 lawns, plus my own, Went to lunch with my wife. I had to remove several bolts since I had one cross-member on backwards. That slowed me up. I was working alone. Then it came to the last board. Anyway it got dark and I didn't want to rush and screw it up. I thought I'll do it today, my son can help me... but it rained all day...

Here it is with the last board in place but not fastened.

Props to your upholsterer! That seat looks awesome! Those "imperfections" are reminiscent of times when things weren't mass produced overseas or manufactured by robots. It just looks right. Great job!

First painted bed boards and strips I've seen. I like it! Seat looks great too. Moving right along.

Looks great Abe, are you going for perfectly original? I see you painted the wood the same colour as the truck.

Not perfectly original but as close as I can get. Thanks.

The boards were painted with an oil base paint that was mixed to match the Meadow Green. It is pretty close I think!

The seat and the bed look great. I think your upholsterer was worth waiting for. I like the painted bed boards.

You know the phrase Abe "good things come for those who wait". Perfect example, it all looks real good.

The bed is on...

The bed is now on, the tailgate on, and the taillights are on. I drove it to a guy that is putting the clutch in and pulling, degreasing, painting and detailing the engine, after he puts in new gaskets and a rear main seal to stop the leaks which made the engine dirty in the first place! The only thing missing is the end cap. The one from the old bed is too short by about a 1/4" at both ends. I will get one made at a local sheet metal shop.

Here is a pic of the bed on the truck. I did not take one of the truck with the tail gate and taillights on... I've been very busy...

Pics to follow after the engine is prettied up!

Man, I feel better about all the stuff I pack into my one-car garage. Don't sneeze in there!

Your truck is looking good. I'm thinking of Meadow Green for the '49 when the day comes to ever paint it. It was originally red, then painted blue, then rust became the trendy color.

Ha-ha! My garage does need cleaned out. The green plywood on the right is to cover the rotted boards on my 55. The pressure treated lumber on the floor is drying out and will be my new headboard for the 55.

Beautiful seat. Is the grey fabric a breathable weave? I used the solid vinyl from Mid-Fifties on my 53, and I am concerned about how hot and sweaty my backside is going to get sitting on it for long trips or jumping in on hot days.... Also, I too put in the two inch foam per Mid-Fifties catalogue recommendation. It feels way to puffy.
I am considering taking the cover off and going with the 1" foam. Your bed looks great, too. I chickened out on the all-paint total stock bed wood. Are you going to be re-wiring? If so, are you going with cloth covered wire?
