Hey guys, so I have exhausted the jy's here in western North Carolina for the hunt for a tailgate. There were not that many to begin with so.. if you happen, In your journeys to come across any at all and let me know I would forever be grateful. If you find one, know a guy that knows a guy, etc...lol

I know of a 79 that was in a yard in Durham. They're closed until Monday.

That would be awesome. They are all in interchangeable aren't they? From what I have read they will all work between the years. If you could get a number or something that would be awesome but don't make a special trip or go out of your way. I've lived without one so far, just trying to complete the truck and I don't want to pay lmc almost 1k for tailgate and hardware...lol

 

Yes the 73-79 are the same style.
This truck is on their web sight as still being there. I snagged some stuff off of it this last Monday and the tailgate was still on it. If you have a dollar let me know, and I'll call them and see how much that tailgate is.

Thanks a ton. Have been looking at craigslist and the ones I have found want you to buy the whole truck as a part truck, I really don't need a parts truck at this point in my build, it's coming near end of its completion except for some cosmetics. Have found two tailgates on Craigslist in the state but they all want 700$-800$ for a rested through piece of metal. I don't mind patching, hell half the truck has new metal, fiberglass and bondo but I'm not going to spend that much on a beat to death tailgate, you know..

 

I'll call them tomorrow and see how much that tail gate is, and hopefully they still have it.
I'll also PM you tomorrow and let you know what I find out. Then if you want it I'll get you a price, what it cost me, plus my fee to get into the pick and pull, and a few bucks for gas.
Or if you'd rather have a phone call and do things faster, you can PM me your phone number. And I could also take a picture and text it to you if it's still there.

Hey John, my son showed me how to get the prices from the web sight.
Tailgate is $52, plus $8 for a core, plus tax, plus $3 to get in, and how's $10 for my fuel
So you could be in that for about $80, if it's still there. If it's a turd and not worth removing, or gone, I'm out $13 for fuel, and admission.
