On truckstv the other day they had the tailpipes exit out through the bed wall, about 3" from the bottom. It looked really sweet. They cut a hole to match the tips and then trimmed it out with a stainless steel ring and bolts. It keeps the pipe out of harms way and gives a totally wicked look to it.
true true, I saw that episode. But that takes alot of work and or me I don't know how to do that stuff, so, what'a yall think? I like out the back, but I hear some bad stuff about that.
I had out the back dual on my old truck, not too bad. Stayed clean, not original. I wanted to do something like trucks did, but through the rear bumper.
I have dual exiting out behind the tires now and it's always muddy and catches rocks, etc.
Depending on my wife , I might try the out the bedside, but I don't think I want to live in my truck.
I do like exiting in front of the tires, but that can be almost impossible with dual tanks and how the driveshaft angles.
Personally I like them out the back, but you could "dump" them right behind the rear axle (turn them straight down, not take the mufflers off). It depends on how loud you want. "Dumped" seems to rumble a little more as the sound "bounces" between the bed and street. Good luck!
I have a side tank and TC in the way on my '84 and i ran both pipes along the pass. side frame rail and exited into 4x22 inch tips in front of the rear wheel. LOOKS GOOD!!!
If you take your truck off-road, the exhaust in front of the tires tends to catch more or gets hung up. Plus, it dirties aluminum rims more too in my experience.
45's behind the rear tires, without tips. Looks good, stays outta the way in most situations, and sounds badass bouncing off the center divider on highways
i have been wondering the same question for my truck out the side behind the rear tires or straight out the back, and from my freinds trucks i have saw the one exiting at 45 degress behind the rear tires is the best
i thought about this alot when i had the exhaust done, after alot of thought i got to out the side behind the rear tires. had lots of compliments on it. little hard to keep clean but definitly wherth it
