I'm going to just do all. It's a twenty year old truck. I can check the injectors shape and see how everything else works too. Gonna see if I can borrow my buds computer and rest the hpop after its all back together. I need injectors. Per the wear and use(mileage) but right now they are all fine. (We shall see)

In the process of doing mine and wow. It's a pain. Not that bad, but there's no way to tell which ones are the bad ones. All the ones I've seen in videos are COVERED. In oil. Well my oil is clear. Had one that was more diesel smell but I also had stepped away for a good bit so it might have just been fresh smell. Stopped for the night. Woo.

Two injectors (passenger side front two, so far) look like that. Hats a new cup needed isn't it?
And then the other ones with the chips missing have been sporadic as far as which one it is. I didn't write that down because if they need replaced(in a hurry) I'm gonna do them all. They are original.

The other has a sludge that's red around the end. Not the tip that sticks in the combustion chamber, the part immediately after the copper washer.

The first two I assume is some sideways wear? Loose cup?
Second is that sludge.
Third is the damage.
Over all it wasn't that bad of a project. Having done it now, I'm not scared to do it anymore.
That squeak is gone, and I can hit full rom and I even have better boost! I can hear it now lol.
After I made sure she wasn't gonna die on me. About two miles out is a 70mph highway, so I gave her good gas and pulled through third shifting high and when I looked back the night had turned colors and the cars had faded lights. First time she's ever rolled a significant amount of coal!(sure it had something to do with all the **** in the system from pulling them.
I recommend the rag truck. Pull the injector out, stuff a rag in. Clean swap orings pull the rag out make sure insides clean and stuff the injector back in.
Then once it's all done, pull glow plugs, spin the engine by hand a few times (15/16) then put valve covers back on and use the starter to spin a few times and throw it back together. It took me about an hour and half to finish it after I had the valve covers on. Crank and crank and crank then wait. My starter is a year old, and I'm not doing that again.

Just an FYI the Black Green ring combo is where your oil was bypassing into the fuel. Appears yo lower washers were not sealing properly as well to the bottom of the cup.
I wire brush the cups and carb clean them prior to re oiling the rings and installing the injector... vac each cylinder of any carb cleaner, and crank for a few cycles of 10-15 seconds and then put it back together. Its important to get old ring material and junk out of the cups....

Yeah. I'm not sure if the cups are bad or not, the squeak came back some, but more so when it's cold vs warm.
I used a scuffing pad for paint to clean them. Wasn't too sure about the severity of a little scruff on them so I played it safe.
I didn't vacuum it, but I turned it by hand a few times then pulled the glow plugs and spun it a few seconds a couple of times with the valve covers on and didn't have much on them. I didn't fill the oil rail or even touch my hpop, but it only took about six to eight times cranking.
In hindsight it was pretty easy, just very thorough.
